Identity-Modernity Plea
Is the self an essence or an existence? Is the divorce between that which is and what is a possiblity in the first place? Can there be a be that is not a be-ing? Can there exist a be and not a thing? This seems impossible, yet man likes to think of himself as a ‘free-willed’ being. This can only exist is the being’s essence is that of infinite potentiality. Possessing the form of formlessness. Eithor man is not free or man is never man. In so far as man came to be at some point, it seems impossible to posit that man is the essence of formlessness or pure existence. Is man an existing contradiction? or is man at base not a free-willed being in the truest sense of the words? Eithor way the consequences of drawing a decision in these regards are none short of absolutely disastarous. One will lead to the dissillusionment of reason, the other the dissillusionment of objectivity. A poor corner in which philosophy finds itself in the modern time. Eithor we posit a way out or philosophy, human nature, mankind, morality, reason, truth, etc are all chaff in the wind of time. It used to be common habit to posit a be which is formless and infinitely free. This is God - not man who is rightfully denoted as an image. That Be and the actions of such are the only way out of the situation. Memory is the kind of thing which is dangerous about experience. It is that which allows us a taste of eternity. It allows both the culmination of understanding and also the thorns of falsity to prevail. Man cannot kill God, even the shallow idea of the notion of God will prevail. We are in a slumber and the time is coming to be awoken lest we sleep forever.
