An Exercise
I long to run through open spaces
where my feet might ache with pain
and a rain might wash away these traces
I long to run through open spaces
I long to run alone from these places
where my feet might learn to groan
and my eyes penetrate the bone of faces
I long to run alone from these places
I long to swing my arms in the air
where my teeth clack and a smile is hung
and my head’s slung back away from care
I long to swing my arms in the air
I long for the Earth to resound my tread
where the wind pounds in a cyclic beat
and my ears meet the sound that fled
I long for the Earth to resound my tread
I long to run alone through open spaces
where memories in my mind kind of blur
and a case of motion occurs and sprawls
that trips me into a laughing spinning fall
I long to run alone through open spaces
